Launched and adopted on 13 February 2012, Europe’s Bioeconomy Strategy addresses the production of renewable biological resources and their conversion into vital products and bio-energy. Under the lead of DG Research and Innovation, the Strategy was co-signed by several other Commission departments namely DG Agriculture and Rural Development, DG Environment, DG Maritime Affairs, and DG Industry and Entrepreneurship.
Department of Plant Molecular Genetics (CNB-CSIC)
Research in the Plant Molecular Genetics Department studies the molecular basis of the regulatory pathways that control plant development, environmental adaptation and protective responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. Besides the intrinsic fundamental interest in understanding key biological processes in plants, the research seeks to derive new tools and methods to improve crop production, based on the use of natural biodiversity and on genetic engineering innovations.
